Hillside Work Schedule

Posted on: October 24th, 2017 by admin No Comments

The hillside well is scheduled for repairs on October 26, 2017. The work will include replacement of the pump motor, pump (if necessary), clean out, and installation of a port to make future cleaning easier and less expensive. The work should take about 4 days. Closure of the pool is not expected to be required.

Due to the need to get roof repairs in the men’s changing room done as soon as possible, it’s possible that the annual maintenance will be done in December rather than January or February. We will keep you posted.

Deep Eddy was rated #5 on the best places in the world to swim in the New York Times. But we all knew that right?

In Austin, Tex. This is acclaimed as the oldest swimming pool in the state, with a bathhouse built in 1936. The pool — fed from springs — was the centerpiece of the Deep Eddy Bathing Beach, a resort. Lorena’s Diving Horse was a popular attraction.

Deep Eddy Closing for Maintenance Nov 29, 2016

Posted on: November 7th, 2016 by admin No Comments

Friends:

Deep Eddy will close for two to three weeks for repairs to the hillside well and annual maintenance. The closure date is November 29, 2016. I’m sure you’ve noticed that we have not lately enjoyed the wonderful water quality we had during the spring and early summer. The hillside well is our most prolific producer of good quality water and it started producing less water than normal a couple of months ago. This required the use of the pool side well which contains the fine particulate silt which discolors the water and pool shell. Our well experts have determined that the hillside well pump must be repaired or replaced. Rather than enduring two closures (another one later in the winter for maintenance), it was decided to proceed with annual maintenance at the same time. If you know of a maintenance item which needs attention and you believe it may not have been noticed by staff, feel free to pass it along.

Your understanding is certainly appreciated.
